Leadership Lessons From Luke 1.67-79

Vision for the future often begins with a reflection of the past. Zechariah is filled with the Spirit and immediately begins to prophesy all that has happened to this point and what it means.

He mentions the past and how the birth of his son, John will usher in a continuation of a vision set in motion long ago. Never make the mistake as a young leader that you have a fresh vision. Rather seek God for a vision that is much greater. The vision we carry is only a reflection of what is in God’s heart.

Many times as leaders we hope for a new, fresh vision. One that has never been seen or heard. But God is in the planting, watering and harvesting of visions. Remember, our vision is to take the supernatural and make it practical. Isn’t this what God did with a man named Jesus? He took the supernatural Jesus and had him wash feet, restore families, and welcome children.

Bringing heaven to earth.

The planting of this vision took place years ago and was now being watered in order that the harvest would take place. Zechariah’s vision was the watering one might say.

There will be times in a leader’s life when he/she will be called upon to bring forth vision that is a piece of a much larger vision. We should never be so arrogant as to believe that our vision stands alone. With God it is a part of a much larger one.
